World Series 2015 Style Inspiration

Currently residing in Chicago and being a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, the post season games for baseball fueled my excitement and curiosity as my favorite team and team of the city I currently live in were battling for a chance to play in the 2015 World Series. Unfortunately, both teams lost and Facebook was filled with posts of cheerful hopes for next season. Now that the World Series 2015 is upon us, I haven’t lost all interest in this sport. Once again, the Kansas City Royals are playing for the championship, a team I supported last year in honor of my tradition to root for the underdog. Also in the game is the New York Mets, a team I know very little about but I’m happy to cheer on as well since it seems all New York cheering goes towards the Yankees. So, which one is more of an underdog? In this case, I’m not sure I can say, but I can show a little support for both with style inspirations featuring sustainable and ethical fashion companies. Are you a Mets or Royals fan? Either way, I’ve got you covered!

New York Mets

Cardigan: Braintree Clothing   Pants: People Tree
Earrings and Clutch: Global Goods Partners
Shoes: Seasalt Cornwall   Bracelet: Hearts

Although I’ve used blue and orange in a style set for the Denver Broncos, I pulled in some neutral colors to make this outfit show how much you love the New York Mets at the office or having a casual dinner with friends. An unexpected favorite for me in this outfit are the tan Oxfords from Seasalt Cornwall. It’s a shoe style I’ve always admired but never found quite the right outfit for until now. Another unexpected fact I discovered is how closely the Mets are tied to my favorite team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team was founded after the 1957 season to replace the loss of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants who moved to Los Angeles and San Francisco. In order to fill in the hole left behind in the National League, the New York Mets were founded and won the World Series in 1969 and 1986. According to ESPN, the team has worked its way up in the last five years, an impressive feat for any team.

Kansas City Royals Set

Purse: Shop EthicaNecklace: Mata Traders
Earrings: Raven + Lily   Bracelet: Faire Collection

Even though I had a few styling options in a previous blog post for the 2014 World Series, I still enjoyed showcasing another fashionable suggestion for the Kansas City Royals. After all, fashion seasons change just like baseball seasons do. I’m excited to feature a necklace from Mata Traders, a company I’m interning with here in Chicago as well as these beautiful earrings of horn and brass from Raven + Lily. Both I found to be just the right touch for this outfit. I’m also convinced I need to pay a visit to Braintree Clothing if I visit the U.K. because I can’t get enough of their designs! Since I rooted for this team last year and it’s close to my temporary residence in the Midwest, I still have an affinity for them. Perhaps this may be the year for the team whose name originated from the American Royal, a livestock show, horse show, rodeo, and championship barbeque competition held in Kansas City since 1899.

For now my loyalty remains neutral as both teams seem to be ones that have built up their skills and reputation over recent years. It’s always refreshing to see baseball teams that have grown and developed rather than watching a competition between two teams who always seem to make it to the post season every year. I’m also excited to be celebrating for whichever team wins, but of course, I’d always prefer a Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory. I’ll be anxiously waiting until next season.
