If you have a Pinterest account or shop on Etsy, you’re probably well aware of the DIY movement and surge of craft bloggers and techniques. Whether this is something completely new to you or not, there are plenty of resources available that I admire for their promotion of sustainability through repurposing and crafting. With National Sewing Month in motion, I’m sharing a few of my favorite crafting and repurposing bloggers. Their styles range from repairing items to give them a renewed purpose to fun projects that reinvigorate your décor style. If you’re looking for some new crafting inspiration, take a look at a few of my suggestions.
Green Issues by Agy
Eco-designer Agatha of Green Issues by Agy has become one of my favorite bloggers to follow on Instagram and Facebook. She always has amazing techniques and repairs that take worn clothing pieces to new fashionable works of art. Her projects continually inspire me to see how we can make textile waste into stylish wardrobe pieces and I always admire her features on sewing workshops including Fix It Friday.
A Beautiful Mess
An extremely popular blog run by sisters Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman, A Beautiful Mess always has fantastic ideas for homemade projects including décor and crafts. I follow their Instagram account avidly and love their unique and colorful styles. If you need inspiration on how to add pops of color and design into your life, then this is the blog for you!
WobiSobi blogger Anne A. Hollabaugh was first brought to my attention after a friend shared it with me on Facebook, thinking it would be perfect for my admiration for those who repurpose clothing. I’ve admired this eco-friendly blogger as she finds ways to re-style t-shirts into stylish and trendy tops. I look forward to her future projects and ideas for turning a simple article of clothing into something refreshing and new.
I first stumbled upon Keri of Repurposing Junkie when she commented on my blog and I discovered her post on re-purposing items into magnets. Since then, I’ve found her design ideas to be a great way to look at items as possibly serving other purposes. Her recent stenciling projects are beautiful and make me think about what I would like to do for future home décor, and my favorite aspect of her work is that she uses what she has.
The Boondocks Blog
Mary of The Boondocks Blog first caught my attention with her travel posts and life in Greece, but she’s also grabbed my interest with her re-purposing blog posts. She’s turned lanterns into grills alongside her feature of the mountains in Greece, and her talents continue to amaze me. If you are looking for unique styles and décor, The Boondocks Blog has just what you’re looking for!
This compilation is only the beginning of crafting and repurposing bloggers out in the blogosphere. I hope these few listed can help you see that the possibilities of crafting are endless, especially when it comes to using items you already own.
