Straws can be pesky. I find the only way I avoid them is when I get the drink myself or telling the waiter or waitress that I prefer not to have a straw, but you do have to be conscious of it to catch it before it happens!

I find keeping a metal knife, fork and spoon wrapped in a cloth napkin in my handbag, really helps me to avoid plastic cutlery when eating out. Of course plates are more difficult.
I also find it’s really hard to avoid straws and napkins when ordering drinks, particularly in the U.S. I haven’t quite got into the habit of asking for them without.

I have not been and it’s on my list too.

They really put you in the world they are telling the story from.

Comment on The Problem with Palm Oil by brooklyntvlasich http://passportcouture.com/the-problem-with-palm-oil/#comment-2959 Sun, 04 Jun 2017 18:10:54 +0000 http://passportcouture.com/?p=4409#comment-2959 You bring up an excellent point that is applicable to other areas of sustainability. Although I support companies and laws that will instill sustainable practices, I am concerned about those who rely on certain practices for their revenue. For example, when I see changes in environmental regulations that will help the environment, I support them, but I often wonder will happen to miners and other workers whose work may end because of these new regulations. Is there a way to train them in these new environmental/technological advances so they can be a part of these changes and not have to struggle to find work? I hope the government also considers this as we make more moves toward changes for the environment. Always include people whose work and communities you are affecting so they don’t have to struggle and worry about a lack of revenue.

The exhibit is headed to Seattle next, so I may consider making my way there since I missed it in D.C. I’m excited to find others who love D.C.’s museums as much as I do!
