30 x 30 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge

After reading about the 30 x 30 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge from Celeste Fohl of Bookish & Belle, I decided this was a challenge I wanted to be a part of.  What exactly is this challenge?  The basic concept is to pick 30 items of clothing and mix them for 30 days to create unique outfits.  Items included in this challenge are tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear, but do not include:

  • Pajamas and loungewear
  • Workout clothes
  • Swimwear
  • Socks and underwear
  • Shoes
  • Bags
  • Accessories
  • Jewelry

There are many programs out there that will give your wardrobe a face lift, but I decided this would be a good one for a few reasons concerning sustainability.  One of the best things about the 30 x 30 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge is it involves picking clothing already in your wardrobe rather than thinking of what you can purchase.  It also makes you think about how you can use a garment over and over again to make many styles and uses of outfits.  With a collection of items I’ve worn for years, bought used, or made on my own, I hope to show you how the personality of your wardrobe can shine through and still be sustainable.

Below, you will see the items I’ve chosen for this challenge.  Just like my sustainable and ethical fashion outfit posts, I’ll indicate if the items are from sustainable and ethical fashion companies, if items are purchased second-hand, if I made them, and how many years I’ve owned them.  Tune into my Instagram account to see my daily outfits and how I’ll use each garment!

  5. Anastasia Nicole

Love the capsule challenge idea. I’ve been meaning to try it, but I realized since my wardrobe is fairly streamlined already and that’s pretty much how I dress anyway, I would have to figure out another way to make it work.

  6. Doris

I love all the colors in your wardrobe! I need to expand the palette of my own clothing.

    • brooklyntvlasich

Thanks Doris! Using all of these bright colors has made it quite the challenge but I’ve enjoyed it!
